Direction Column: The top screen of audioGnome shows the file transfers in progress. The bottom screen shows the file transfers that have been completed/aborted.
The direction column tells you whether you are uploading
or downloading. Downloading means you are receiving a file. Uploading means
you are sending a file to someone else.
Folder Column: The folder name you are downloading from or the folder name on your computer that someone you are sending from.
File Column: This column will show the file you are downloading or uploading.
User Column:
The username of the person you are downloading from.
Status Column:
The status of your download or upload.
Bites/Time/Rate/Progress: Lets you know the status of your download/upload.
Incompletes: This shows all the files that seem to appear incomplete. From this "popup box" you can 'Delete all' the incompletes. 'Delete selected' files you only highlight. 'Allow all' will allow the files to be stored on your computer and not to be resumed again. 'Allow selected' means that it will allow only the selected fies to be stored on your computer.
Note: That you can play the incompletes to see if they really are incomplete right from the incomplete box.
In session re-queue:
If checked then downloads broken during session will be re-queued when
remote user is found.
In other words, when this
box is checked and the remote user goes offline or cuts your download off,
or your download just quits on you. aG will keep an eye out for this
same user, and when it find the user, it will automatically download that
same file again.
Cross session re-queue:
If checked then downloads broken during previous sessions will be re-queued
when remote user is found.
In other words, when
this box is checked, and if yesterday someone cuts off your download, and
the next day you start audioGnome, aG will look for the user or users that
you were downloading from yesterday, and download the same files again.
Show Secondary Queue: When checked this displays a pane, users will be placed in the secondary queue window when they reach the amount you set in the options " Max Upload Queues Per User ".
Presence By User: Gives a brief discription and breakdown of users you are interacting with uploading/downloading.
Some meanings of the Status "errors":
"closed by error": Is a string which is an error message delivered by the winsock. It could mean anything, about an error just occurring.
"the connection is reset by the remote": Is the actual error description delivered from the winsock by the operating system. In other words, the person or server you are downloading from either closed your connection or got disconnected off the internet, or just logged off the server her or she was on. There is many possibilties about the other user at the end.
Question:
how do i resume a file?
Answer:
Try downloading the same file name as the file you want resumed.
Ex: If
the file is " Solid Base - Love" find ANY user that has the same
file name. And it'll resume where you left off.
Note:
If the file name is " Solid Base_- _Love " , you cant resume. It
has to be an exact match. If the file you have isnt the same, and you want
to resume it. Just rename the file in your save directory, located
in the "Files Screen".
Downloading/Uploading
Problems
Solution:
If you are having problems downloading or uploading, or your transfers
just keep "timing out", you could try this method, if you've used Napster
before.
Note: This
will not gurantee your tranfers to work all the time.
1. Go to Napster's
File menu, then preferences, then go to sharing
2. Copy your
port number from Napster and paste it into audioGnome's "Data Listen Port"
located in the Options tab.
Note: Setting
port # to 0 will not solve all firewall problems...
Why Cant Download
Anything? It just Times out?
What we suggest doing is, set your port number to 0 in the "options" section in audioGnome. Then restart audioGnome and use as normal. If you continue to have this problem, please feel free to come to chat.
Why do i have "get error" when i try to resume?
Well first of
all this can be caused by ALOT of things!!! i will list some here.
If the person
just got disconnected from his or her ISP then, when you try to resume
it'll say that.
Or if you got
disconnected, and you connected back online, and you try to resume it'll
say that.
And last but
not least, if you server your connected to justs disconnects then it'll
say that.
I now will list how to get the file back resuming again.
1. Try searching for that same song again, it has to be the same format, same text for it to resume.
2. When you find that song, double click on it, and it should resume.
3. If none of these work, try connecting back to the same servers you were on last, and search for that song again, and try to download it.
Note: if you
get disconnected by your ISP. And you try to download that song again from
the searh screen, it wont work! You have to press the search button again
to refresh the screen. And if you find the same song with the same
user. Just double click to Download, and it should resume.
Question: Why does it say "invalid File"?
Answer: Try another file, the file on the users computer is most likely doesnt exist, or the user isn't online.
